Perennial meaning a long time. The perennial issue is a political topic. I like the first title because it is vague and intriguing. The second is dramatic but I feel like it is a long title. The third feels formal and very political. This to me would be a more formal paper, so I would have to say, "Press Freedom versus Press Responsibility: The Perennial Issue," takes the cake.

Fort Hood, FR 3

The second fort hood shooting sparked a debate over military personnel not allowed to defend themselves. Up until the 1990s military personnel were allowed to carry personal weapons. Military Personnel are trained with weapons.We trust our military to protect our freedom. I wonder why the Lt. General M. Miley opposed carry on base. My question is why not? Maybe the need is not great enough. There are armed security forces patrolling all the time. I could see Lt. General not wanting any trigger happy young service members running around his base. 

The shooter was already seeing a psychiatrist, taking sleeping medication, and diagnosed with mental health issues.  His mother and grandfather died within 5 months of the shooting. He was trying to get a day off to go to his mother's funeral. That's when he snapped came back with a handgun. This begs the question are we doing enough for mental health? Is there much more we can do? Is it inevitable?

In Texas, residents pay a $140 fee, attend up to six hours of training, undergo a criminal background check and have to pass both a written and a shooting proficiency test to qualify for a concealed handgun license. As of Jan. 1, there were 708,048 concealed handgun license holders in Texas, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety, which issues the licenses.

Buying a Car 2TR

This exercise comes from the book, it asks for 4 paragraphs on the same topic with different audiences.

Audience: Best Friend, who doesn't own a car
With a car suddenly that movie that starts in 10 minutes is possible. Imagine not having to walk, bike, or even worse ride the bus around town. Of course gas prices, insurance, and the car itself is going to be a pricey figure. However the opportunities would far out weigh the cost. That job opening on the other side of town, is within our gasp.

Audience: Local Banker
A car is an opportunity. The commute across town for the job opening no longer seems that great. Insurance, gas, and the car itself will be costly. However better jobs will become available. Time previously spent commuting will be spent 15 minutes early on the job. A car is an investment that pays for itself.

Audience: Mom
After looking around the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, being a top safety pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is my choice. I know safety was your biggest concern and feel like you would be pleased. It has front crash prevention system technology. The Malibu has numerous airbags, including side, and knee airbags.

Audience: Uncle, Enviromental Protection Agency
The 2014 Volkswagen Golf Diesel is the car I have been looking at. I remember you telling me that EPA has been certifying more and more clean diesel vehicles. After we talked I considered finding a vehicle that was great on miles per gallon and had a lot of power. The Golf is turbocharged direct injection which makes it sporty and good for the environment.
